Amgen (NASDAQ:AMGN) has reportedly hired Moderna’s (NASDAQ:MRNA) chief medical officer, Paul Burton, as its new chief medical officer.

Burton succeeds Amgen Senior Vice President of Global Medical Darryl Sleep, who had been serving as interim CMO. Sleep will continue as head of global medical after Burton assumes his post, according to Fierce Biotech, which cited an Amgen internal memo.

Burton joined Moderna as CMO in July 2021 after working 16 years in various positions at Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), including as chief global medical affairs officer for its Janssen division. Prior to J&J, he worked as global development leader for Amgen.
