Oracle settles privacy lawsuit for $115M

  • Oracle (NYSE:ORCL) reached a $115M settlement in a lawsuit that accused the cloud computing and software company of violating California’s privacy laws, according to a filing Thursday night from the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of California.
  • Plaintiffs in the case, Katz-Lacabe et al v. Oracle America Inc, accused Oracle of collecting shopping and online browsing data of millions of people, and then selling said data to third parties.
  • The law firm of Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein represented the plaintiffs in the case.
  • The settlement, which covered people whose information was collected by Oracle since August 2018, still requires a judge’s approval.
