Spotify (NYSE:SPOT) has released a new feature for certain Premium subscribers: access to 15 hours of audiobooks per month without any additional cost.
The feature, which launched in the U.K. and Australia on Wednesday, will be rolled out in the U.S. later this year.
Each Spotify (SPOT) Premium individual, and plan managers of Family and Duo accounts, can enjoy 15 hours of audiobook listening every month, with the option to buy additional 10-hour allocations as top-ups.
The news comes in the wake of Spotify’s (SPOT) plans to introduce a high-end subscription tier later this year, in an effort to generate more revenue.
Spotify (SPOT) began selling audiobooks last year, as it diversifies beyond music streaming to better compete with bigger rivals such as Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), and Google (GOOG) (GOOGL).
